The Chippendale trophy is played for each year with all clubs in the association taking part. A random draw is made during the winter break. There follows a series of knock-out rounds within the two sections (‘A’ and ‘B’). The winners of each section take part in a grand final, usually on the home course of that years President.

A player, minimum age 18 years who is a member of a BDRGA affiliated Club with a fully developed Handicap Index of 15.5 upwards.
A team shall consist of two players with no more than one player being 20.4 or less Handicap Index.
All Member Clubs may enter 2 teams. The format of the competition is foursome, played over 18 holes from scratch as match play on a knockout basis. ***Please see possible temporary contingency rule for 2021.
Matches level after 18 holes shall be finalised on a ‘sudden death’ format from the first hole onwards.
The winners of the A & B sections will play-off on the same basis over 36 holes.
Both the semi-finals and final to be played on neutral courses on a date and venue fixed by the Chippendale Secretary.
The onus is upon each Team to contact the other as soon as possible to arrange the matches.
The Home Club should offer the Away Club three possible dates on
which to play. Any disputes will be arbitrated by the Chippendale Secretary. The Penalty for breaking this Rule is disqualification of BOTH Teams.
A player who plays in the A team is not eligible to play in the B team and vice-versa. Penalty for breaking this rule is the disqualification of the teams.
Failure to notify the Competition Secretary of the result by the winning team by the final date of each round will also result in disqualification. If playing a match on the final day please notify Chippendale Secretary beforehand in case you cannot get result to him on time.

HANDICAP CERTIFICATES MUST BE EXCHANGED OR ELECTRONIC DISPLAY DATED NO MORE THAN 28 DAYS BEFORE THE START OF THE MATCH.FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THIS RULE IS DISQUALIFICATION.
*** It is hoped and expected that the competition will take place in 2021 but it is possible that golf will be subject to certain restrictions. In this event the rules may be amended at short notice by the Committee to allow the matches to be played safely.
