General posts for the BDRGA

Terry Walker

It is with great sadness that the BDRGA announce the passing of our staunch supporter and former president, Terry Walker.  Terry was a force to be reckoned with, setting up the fund raising efforts that have kept the BDRGA on a sound financial footing over the last decade.  His accident at Baildon golf club came just as he was getting back to playing golf after complications from his knee replacement surgeries.  The accident meant he could no longer play golf but his enthusiasm for the Bradford and Yorkshire areas meant he continued to attend many meetings and helped in the running of our competitions.  He will be greatly missed, our thoughts are with Joan and the rest of his family at this incredibly sad time.

2020 Competitions Suspended

A message from our secretary

Over the past few days I’ve been attempting to put together a framework for how the BDRGA events and matches should proceed in 2020.  Every time I’ve felt that I had it right, the situation has changed – and never for the better.

Unfortunately we now have to conclude that the only sensible course of action is to suspend all competitions (including the League and Chippendale) until further notice.  If circumstances change, we will be in touch with you.

Stay well: play golf if it’s safe for you to do so and we hope that you and your families remain healthy.

Very best wishes,

Peter Magee

Silsden golf club

Our vice president, Mr Simon Hunt, has sadly informed the BDRGA that as of the end of March 2020 Silsden Golf Club will close. Silsden have always been staunch supporters of the Bradford Unions especially the BDRGA for which we have always been very grateful.

With the 2020 season not having been played this adjustment has been carried forward to 2021, Division D will consist of five clubs. At the end of this season two clubs will be relegated as usual but only one club will gain promotion from each division. This should balance the divisions for 2022 into four divisions of six clubs.

2019 Team Championship

Congratulations to Northcliffe Golf Club on winning the 2019 Team Championship held at Northcliffe Golf Club. Runners up were The Manor on a back six countback with Baildon Golf Club. Mr S Dry won the Champion Rabbit in Memory of Mel Smart trophy (the new name for this shield from 2019 onwards).
